360∘from PGC to PGD

After finished from PGC phase and begins PGD phase, I have re-thinking out of my project again, which I called it as 360∘.

Started from…

– I have modified my first project proposal which is about human feeling but it was too broad..

– So, I decided to changed my project again and again but they were still broad..

– Re-thinking..- I began to do mind mapping and listing about what I like/ don’t like/ can/ can’t

– Inspiration..- IMPERIAL WAR MUSEUM NORTH : Video Presentation about War which displayed on the all around the wall of exhibition hall

– Radiohead’s Music Video : House of cards and the making of House of cards

– Surface project : a film from underneath which making by Thai’s motion graphic designer name’s Varathit Uthaisri

– Becoming 360∘!!!

– So, I started to doing some research about related project and also looking at existing works : Virtual room and I-Cinema, Surface

– Tableau Vivant : Narrative style of pictorial which will narrow 360∘not too broad and also interact with audience

– Planing out of experiments : Panorama, 2D draft, 3D model, Animatic, 4D interact experiment, Filming experiment and Production process (Pre, Pro and Post)

– PGC Presentation : Suttana PGC Presentation

Design Process Project 3 : 23/10/2009

I have 2 ideas for  Waterstone’s bookshop, because I think that there are various choices and ideas is good for client.

Typography Animation : “The time you enjoy wasting was not wasted” John Lennon’s Quote

From this work, I have found that making 15 second short movie is not easy. Moreover, the communication between messages and audience have to easy to understand and be effective.

The inspiration of this work come from Peter Lester’s speech ” Don’t Work Hard, Work Smart ”

So, I decided to make piece of work that simple but effective to the audience. I also try to make this animation to be interesting by trying to make the movement of characters to be in line at the same time as rhythm of music background. Sorry aout Lennon’s Credit in the video, I have to cut that part out because of time is not enough.

Final work:

Draft and Footage:

Another idea is on the Storyboard and I also made Blocking for easy to understand the camera movement.

Design Process Project 2

Lennon quote•    What have you learnt from this session – to improve your idea development for this brief?

–  From MA Graphic Design process project 2, I have learnt how to share my idea to others and received the comment from others. It’s a good chance that we discussed with people who work in the different tasks and knowing what they think about my work. You can gain more idea and more visualization thinking of the work. When I think about the work, I always want to be alone and move my self out from other people because I think that I can keep concentrate on my work better than staying with friends or others. But from this session make me know that be with yourself is just one of the good way which make you concentrated but talking with other, sharing idea, receive comment, and know what people think is better way to get a good work because it’s not just my own idea, we can learn of how people thinking and use it to develop or solve our works as well. “ Many heads many brains always better than one head one brain”

•    What have you learnt from this session – to apply to your MA research project?

– Applying to my research project, I have know the important things that I think it must be used with every kinds of the real work fields that is we have to focus and follow the task that we have received from the client. To be honest, the first time when I got the task for this project (Waterstone’s), I think like why we have to focus on one passage from the book or poem, I don’t want to focus on them because every books and poems have It’s own values on it self. But now I know that I think like a stubborn kid. In the real field of working, following the task is important and can keep you on the right way. Not only above but also including the visualization think is important as well, people will never actually know about the idea of work without visualization.

What have you learnt from this session – to improve your idea development for this brief ?
– I have learnt many knowledges and ideas of thinking about the work in this workshop session. It is a good chance for me to attended this class. In the morning lecture, i can learnt how to do a research in the specific area as arts and design which is consist of value/ market/ perception/ audience identity/ visual language/ contextual influence. Not only research but also include many important factors like visualisation and so on.

What have you learnt from this session – to apply to your MA research project?

– To apply to my MA research project, I think all I have learnt is important to my project. Tutors try ti guide us to the right way of research project with insert some good and useful poem to explore the idea and inspiration e.g. ” Aim at nothing and you will hit it every time” but there is one sentence which Peter Lester always said ” Don’t work hard….Work smart “. I really like this sentence but I want to add some more which is we should work hard as well and then we will get a smart work 🙂

Is the design process discussed this morning different / similar to your previous experience, and if so, how?

– In the design process, there are some point that different and similar to my previous experiences. The reason is I have been doing some research in my undergraduate degree program but most of them is focusing on marketing communication which consist consist of 4P’s, SWOT analysis, Consumer behavior and so on. For this class, we focus on research in art and design which is not only for the idea and concept. we have to think deeply and analyse many factors like messages, audience, perception, visualisation as well.
